Sigh, it’s been nothing short of a roller coaster ride. Almost apocalyptic if not entirely so, and its not over yet.
It is a really brutish experience the catastrophic loss of lives on a global scale since the dreaded COVID-19 (corona) virus begun to spread uncontrollably across borders.
From the common man to men of great social and political affluence, the virus has indeed touched base with a great many. Heck, it hit home too. I unfortunately lost one of our family doctors and I also lost an aunt. Devastating enough as you can picture, may God rest their souls.
I can only imagine what families are going through right now given the loss of lives and other unfortunate situations that are married to the epidemic, i.e the economic shutdown, the social restrictions etc.
Back in my country Nigeria, as if all that is happening isn’t enough, we’ve had to deal with even more cruel situations considering the current stringent conditions of living; situations ranging from an increase in fuel prices, increase in electricity tariffs and more importantly the damned and very unjust extra judicial executions of NIGERIANS at the very hands of the authority constituted to prevent such occurrences, oh yes, the POLICE!
Although the leadership of the police has very recently, but not for the first time, banned the units responsible; protests are forming around the state and as at the time of composing this post, some are actively engaged in protests against the menace of the special police units responsible for these heinous crimes.
Given everything that’s happening in the background, no decent community, society or country should have to go through all that.
This is 2020 from my view, a few mighty fell and the world shook, many common men fell but its just another day; yet we are alive (you my dear reader and me and a host of others) counting our blessings in the middle of the storm, yet not forgetting the natural disasters recorded around the world in the past months. Even with the casualties, we must be tough as nails.
Is there some light at the end of the tunnel?
